Who We Are

Our Mission

Global Tennis Project is a worldwide initiative committed to helping developing countries through the sport of tennis. Our goal is to support tennis communities in two core ways:

  • Provide tennis specific supplies such as tennis racquets, string, clothing, shoes, balls, grips, and other equipment.

  • Present interactive and highly personal tennis education workshops to help improve the quality of tennis training and offer support to each nation's coaches.

Michael Sowter

Michael Sowter is the founder of Global Tennis Project. He currently serves dual roles as the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Fordham University and the Tennis Coordinator at Life Time Athletic Westchester. Having worked in various colleges, clubs and tennis academies for the last twenty years, the seed for Global Tennis Project was planted in 2019 when he traveled to Accra, Ghana, to volunteer with Tennis Foundation Ghana and help direct their annual girls’ camp. Inspired by that trip, he created Global Tennis Project to help provide tennis resources and create tennis education opportunities to other developing countries around the world.

“The day you find out who you are is when you look back and realize that it was never the words, rather your actions that defined you.”
